Authorities in Search of Driver Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

Authorities are looking for the driver who fled after his van, which was carrying field employees, rolled over in unincorporated Sonoma County. The hit and run accident left one dead and three others injured.

According to reports, the Chevrolet Astro the man was driving went over an embankment located along Guerneville Road.

Police said three vehicle passengers who were identified as Ignacio Hernandez-Rubio, 17, Nahum Avendano, 26, Domingo Layata-Mendez, 34, all from Santa Rosa, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident.

The teen was brought to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Santa Rosa to receive medical treatment for his broken leg. Meanwhile, the two men were rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for lacerations and head injuries.

A male occupant was not as lucky as them. He reportedly died when he was ejected from the vehicle, which rolled over numerous times.

The man was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
